

Puchner did not officially record serial numbers until starting with #6000 in 1960.

I don't have any real information on this particular bassoon. Not sure if this is a model number or serial number.

We paid $3000 for it with 6 weeks to return it if we are not happy and a year of free adjustments. The man who sold it to us has been restoring instruments for 40 years and did a complete overhaul on it. It can be possible to play a bassoon for many months with leaky pads or any number of minor (or major) faults and never even notice. Consider the state of repair of the bassoon before you buy - Unless you are an experienced bassoon repairer, it is often difficult to spot minor or major problems with a bassoon before you buy it.
